I am a teacher.
I recently graduated college, and am certified to teach 7th through 12th grade language arts. My first teaching job starts in a few weeks. I will have 30 middle school students for two hours after school. It looks like I will be substitute teaching during the day this semester. Graduating in December makes it tough to get a full-time teaching position right away, but that's alright. I'm staying positive about it, and looking forward to getting to work with a variety of students during the day, then enjoying my time with "my" students in the evening.
My future plans include beginning graduate classes as part of an accelerated, nationally recognized program this summer. I will use this space to record my thoughts on teaching, to reflect on what works for me, and hopefully to discuss with other teachers. Encouraged by other educators' blogs, and more specifically their posts about why we should, I have decided to join in the conversation.
Welcome!
